Institution

The institution that I would most associate my Thriller with is Alcon Entertainment. In my opinion Alcon Entertainment would want to make my film due to the style that I am aiming to replicate, this is a similar style to the film "Prisoners", as one of the most highly influential films for me it has inspired a certain style within my work, when I visualise what my Thriller will look like it emanates the style of prisoners.
Also the perspective of my film and prisoners is very similar. We will see the world from two opposing protagonist's point of view, debating who's side we are on. I very much like this dialectical style of film, and I think it will work very effectively.

"Prisoners" is not the only film that is identifiable with my Thriller made by Alcon entertainment, other such films as:

All of these films are Thrillers, This furthers my point that Alcon would  be a good institution to use to make my film. Also their interest in my film would be heightened due to their preference for Thrillers.

Here is a video clip from the film "Prisoners" to show a general tone for my film and also to demonstrate Alcon Entertainment's style of film and cinematography.

Another clip from "Prisoners" to show the chase and suspense that I would replicate it my Thriller, especially in the opening sequence. This kind of scene would really have the audience on the edge of their seat, and debating in their heads who they think the killer is.

To further my research on the possible
institutions and companies that could possibly make my Thriller I have looked deeper into the institution "Alcon Entertainment", I have found that Alcon have an agreement with Warner bros which permits Warner Bros to distribute Alcon's films, this means that the films produced by Alcon have high budgets and therefore have an advantage over low budget film studios such as vertigo films due to the higher costing film equipment and actors. The reason why I did not choose Vertigo Films to make my thriller is not entirely due to their lack of Thrillers, it is mainly due to their low budget, my Thriller would be best suited to a very high quality camera and a high end editor as I would want the storyline to be presented in a creative and intricate way in order to reflect the story line.

The finished full length Thriller would be shown in chain cinemas, I say this because almost 100% of films made by Alcon Entertainment have been high grossing hits that you wouldn't associate with art house cinema. To further generate a profit from my film I would set a dvd release date a few months aft=er the cinema release, this would include a standard format copy, a high definition blu-ray copy and a

special edition copy which would be cased in metal rather than plastic and it would contain the soundtrack to my Thriller. I think that this would be a good way to generate a steady income for the film (depending on its success) over a period of maybe 2 to 5 years.

Dennis Villeneuve
As for the directing of the film, I would best suite Denis Villeneuve's style, he directed the film Prisoners. I have chosen his style due to his phenomenal and unique way of presenting Prisoners, however I have seen little of his previous work and  also as the storyline of my Thriller and Prisoners aren't a million miles apart, having the same directing styles/influences could potentially make the two films very similar, and I wouldn't want to create a "Rip off" of Prisoners.

Christopher Nolan

For this reason I would chose the style of Christopher Nolan as the director of my Thriller due to his unique and highly intellectual films.
Nolan is my first choice for creative influence and style, I have seen almost all of his work and was entirely encapsulated by Inception and Memento, that very psychological style of film that questions the audience is exactly the kind of film style I am aiming to achieve.

Quentin Tarantino

Another influence I have for the making of my Thriller would be my all time favourite director Quentin Tarantino. His entire work spanning from "True Romance" to "Django Unchained" has kept me wondering how on earth he creates such masterpieces. My conclusion is that he successfully combines cinematography with exquisite musical choice. This would be another feature that I would include in my films, music. Music is a very important part of films in my opinion, it can effortlessly set a specific tone or mood in a scene, and can dramatically increase the impact of a scene whether it be Action or Romance. However if I were to direct my Thriller in the style of Quentin Tarantino is mostly associated with Action films, so I doubt my Thriller would end up as a Crime Thriller, but more of an Action-Thriller.

The film institution Alcon Entertainment  doesn't noticeably specialize in any particular genre of film as their small list of films does not really follow a specific theme, there are a mix of films ranging from horror to family,  but the majority of their films are Thrillers, mostly crime Thrillers, there aren't enough to say that the institution specialises in this genre.
If Alcon  Entertainment  lacked in family films then it would be safe to say that their target audience would be men and women ranging from ages of 18 - 35, if not older, the crime thriller genre is encompassing to most people around that age band, however predominantly males. My film would have the same target audience as it would be a crime Thriller. I have stated similar films of the same genre with similar target audiences in a previous blog post, these are: "16 Blocks", "Prisoners", "The Wicker Man" and "Insomnia".
